You can now order the special tulip created to honour Maria Montessori as her 150th birthday is celebrated this year. The Maria Montessori tulip bulb produces a double red and white flower, with a sturdy stalk. The flower grows to approximately 40 cm.

Place your order now using the link to the distributors website (Thoolen), as numbers are limited.  Note that due to factors such as custom regulations, local climates and the 'biological clock' of the tulip, it is not available to ship to all countries.

Commemorative Coin

To celebrate Maria Montessori's 150th birthday, the Italians design beautiful  Maria Montessori's 150th birthday coin! This 2 Euro coin was officially presented on 15 January. Designed by Luciana De Simoni, it was minted in the mint of Rome.

The image chosen will be well known: it was taken in Vienna in 1930 by famous photographer Lotte Meitner-Graf. The design also refers to some of the mathematical materials.

This is the third time that Italy has honoured Maria Montessori by issuing special coins or banknotes.
